Mechanical Inspector – Sewage Treatment Plant

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily inspections of electrical and mechanical works related to STP infrastructure such as pumps, blowers, valves, piping, HVAC, control panels, cabling, and instrumentation.
• Ensure contractor’s adherence to approved shop drawings, method statements, DEWA/DM specifications, and QA/QC procedures.
• Monitor installation, alignment, testing, and commissioning of mechanical and electrical systems including LV/MV panels, SCADA, cable trays, and grounding.
• Verify contractor compliance with authority standards including DEWA, Dubai Municipality, and project-specific quality and safety protocols.
• Coordinate with Resident Engineer (RE) and Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) to address site challenges and implement corrective measures.
• Track the progress of MEP works, report deviations, and raise site observations or non-conformance reports as needed.
• Document and report daily inspections, material deliveries, test results, and site activities.
• Support the supervision team during equipment start-up, testing, and final handover including FAT/SAT and commissioning tests.
• Review and verify as-built drawings and installation records submitted by the contractor.
• Liaise with client representatives during inspections and provide technical clarifications.
• Monitor adherence to approved health and safety procedures during execution of MEP works.
• Provide input on RFIs, technical submittals, and inspection requests.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 7 years experience in electrical and mechanical systems inspection, preferably in STP projects
• Diploma (minimum 10 years experience in relevant field)
• Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles
• In-depth knowledge of Sewage Treatment Plant systems and processes
• Familiarity with local and international engineering standards
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Exceptional attention to detail; ability to maintain high accuracy
• Proficiency with inspection tools and equipment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to read/interpret complex technical drawings and specifications
• Willingness to work onsite and travel for project inspections

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software
• Professional engineering certification (e.g., PE)
• Knowledge of project management principles
• Previous experience in the UAE or Middle East region
