Mechanical Inspector – Sewage Treatment Plant

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily onsite inspections of electrical and mechanical works related to sewage treatment plant (STP) infrastructure, including pumps, blowers, valves, piping, HVAC, control panels, and instrumentation.
• Ensure contractor compliance with approved shop drawings, method statements, DEWA/DM specifications, and QA/QC procedures.
• Monitor installation, alignment, testing, and commissioning of mechanical and electrical systems (pipe networks, pumps, LV/MV panels, SCADA, etc.).
• Verify contractor adherence to standards set by DEWA, Dubai Municipality, and relevant quality/safety protocols.
• Coordinate site activities with Resident Engineer (RE) and Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) to address challenges and implement corrective measures.
• Track progress of MEP works, report deviations, and raise site observations or non-conformance reports when necessary.
• Document daily inspections, material deliveries, test results, and site activities.
• Support equipment start-up, testing, handover, and witness FAT/SAT and commissioning tests.
• Review and verify as-built drawings and installation records submitted by the contractor.
• Liaise with client representatives during inspections and provide technical clarifications.
• Monitor adherence to approved health and safety procedures during execution of works.
• Provide input on RFIs, technical submittals, and inspection requests related to MEP.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or Diploma with minimum 10 years of experience
• Minimum 7 years experience (for degree holders) in electrical or mechanical systems inspection, preferably STP projects
• In-depth knowledge of sewage treatment plant processes
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering fundamentals
• Familiarity with UAE local and international engineering standards
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail; high accuracy
• Proficiency in inspection tools/equipment
• Strong verbal and written communication
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Willingness to work onsite and travel for inspections

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software
• Professional engineering certification (e.g., PE) highly desirable
• Knowledge of project management principles
• Experience working in the UAE or Middle East
