Speech Language Therapist

Responsibilities

• Provide evaluation and evidence-based treatment for patients of all ages with speech, language, cognitive-communicative, voice and swallowing disorders.
• Develop and implement linguistically and culturally appropriate strategies and tools, including management strategies for Arabic first-language speakers and use of translators as required.
• Screen, assess, and treat communication and swallowing disorders; if dual-qualified in Audiology, conduct hearing screening/evaluation as appropriate.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with nursing, medical colleagues and multidisciplinary teams through case conferences, handovers and documentation.
• Maintain accurate clinical records, produce reports and correspondence, and communicate assessment and treatment outcomes to relevant disciplines.
• Manage a designated caseload efficiently, ensure safe and effective use of treatment resources and equipment, and adhere to departmental policies.
• Participate in continuing professional development (CPD), in-service training, audits, outcome measurement and reflective practice; seek and provide clinical supervision.
• Comply with DOH regulations and professional standards; practice autonomously and support clinical governance and risk management.
• Attend mandatory safety and emergency preparedness training, participate in mock drills and contribute to occupational safety and health requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within UAE healthcare settings
• Familiarity with Emirati Arabic dialect considerations
• Dual qualification in Audiology
• Experience with dysphagia and voice therapy protocols
• Demonstrated multidisciplinary teamwork and case conference experience
