Podiatrist

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and treat abnormalities and diseases of the foot and lower limb for patients of all ages.
• Provide treatment and management for high-risk patient groups (e.g., elderly, patients at increased risk of amputation).
• Prescribe medications and implement non-surgical treatments including orthotics, specialized dressings, exercise therapies, cryotherapy and ultrasonic therapies.
• Perform therapeutic and minor surgical procedures (e.g., nail and soft tissue surgery under local anaesthetic, electrosurgery).
• Prescribe, produce and fit orthotic devices and other aids and appliances; perform gait analysis and orthotic adjustments.
• Deliver foot health education and sports-related injury management for athletes.
• Use a range of equipment including surgical instruments, lasers, grinders, x-ray and video gait-analysis tools.
• Comply with OSH and infection control policies; participate in training, mock drills and awareness programs.
• Follow emergency and evacuation procedures; report hazards, incidents and near misses; assist in risk assessments and incident reports.
• Comply with waste management procedures and use appropriate PPE and safety systems.

Requirements

• DPM degree
• 3-year residency
• DHA/DOH license
• 2+ years
• Surgical skills
• Orthotics fitting
• Gait analysis
• Infection control

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous UAE clinical experience
• Advanced podiatric training or fellowship
• Experience with high-risk diabetic foot care and limb preservation
• Certification in wound care or diabetes foot management
