Zoning Plans Examiner

Responsibilities

• Review development proposals, site plans, and permit applications to ensure compliance with the City’s zoning code and land use regulations
• Lead administrative reviews of zoning plans to support the implementation of the adopted zoning code
• Collaborate with property owners, developers, architects, and contractors to explain zoning requirements and assist with the permitting process
• Coordinate with internal departments to ensure development projects align with planning policies and best practices
• Provide technical guidance regarding zoning interpretation and maintain accurate review records
• Assist in resolving complex zoning issues to protect the integrity of the City’s planning goals

Requirements

• Master's degree from a PAB-approved college AND 4 years of experience in land use planning, zoning administration, building regulations, architecture, or civil engineering
• OR a Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Engineering, or Architecture AND 6 years of experience in the aforementioned fields
• Degree must be from an institution accredited by the U.S. Department of Education
• Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

• A combination of planning education and experience related to land use
• Training or education in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Techniques
