Zoning Inspector

Responsibilities

• Enforce the City’s zoning code and ensure development projects comply with approved plans and land use regulations
• Conduct field investigations of zoning complaints and perform final inspections to confirm project compliance
• Initiate and manage enforcement cases, including preparing documentation and providing court testimony when necessary
• Collaborate with the Zoning Administrator and various City departments to support coordinated development review
• Assist property owners, developers, and residents in understanding zoning requirements and navigating permitting processes
• Support policy development, staff training, and public communication efforts related to zoning administration

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Urban Planning, or a related field AND 6 years of relevant experience
• OR Associate's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Urban Planning, or a related field AND 8 years of relevant experience
• OR High school diploma AND 10 years of relevant experience
• Relevant experience includes land use planning, zoning administration, code enforcement, water engineering, building regulations, or civil engineering
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in land use, architecture, engineering, or construction techniques
• Education or experience in water engineering or sustainability
• ICC certification in related fields
