YouthBeat Outreach Worker

Responsibilities

• Deliver assertive street-based outreach across Northbridge and Perth CBD via foot patrols and vehicle-based support.
• Conduct brief risk assessments, safety planning, and provide trauma-informed, person-centred interventions.
• Build rapport with street-present young people using culturally secure and solution-focused approaches.
• Provide safe and appropriate transport to approved locations to ensure the wellbeing of young people.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders including WA Police, Crisis Care, and the Nyoongar Outreach Service.
• Complete accurate administrative tasks including case notes, data entry, and handover documentation.

Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Youth Work, Social Work, Social Sciences, Psychology, or equivalent experience (students are encouraged to apply).
• Demonstrated experience in outreach or working with at-risk/homeless youth, including those facing AOD or mental health challenges.
• Strong crisis intervention, de-escalation, and risk assessment skills.
• Ability to build trust with diverse groups, including First Nations and CALD communities.
• Proven capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a high-pressure, overnight setting.
• Ability to pass a national police history check and hold a valid working with children clearance.
