About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support and mentorship to children and young people (aged 9-14) in a residential care setting
- Ensure a safe, homelike environment that supports children to thrive
- Help youth develop essential life skills, including independent living and problem-solving
- Build positive, appropriate relationships with children and young people through active engagement
- Support children in maintaining important family and kinship connections
- Assist with activities of daily living and personal care as required
Requirements
- Experience supporting children and young people who have experienced trauma, abuse, neglect, or disability
- Ability to build positive relationships and engage actively with youth
- Understanding of the importance of family and kinship connections
- Willingness to work a roster that includes afternoon, overnight (sleepover), and weekend shifts
- Current Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) certificate
- Current driver’s licence
- Ability to clear probity checks, including National Criminal History, NSW Working with Children Check, and NSW Residential Care Workers Register check
