Youth Worker

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support and mentorship to children and young people (aged 9-14) in a residential care setting
• Ensure a safe, homelike environment that supports children to thrive
• Help youth develop essential life skills, including independent living and problem-solving
• Build positive, appropriate relationships with children and young people through active engagement
• Support children in maintaining important family and kinship connections
• Assist with activities of daily living and personal care as required

Requirements

• Experience supporting children and young people who have experienced trauma, abuse, neglect, or disability
• Ability to build positive relationships and engage actively with youth
• Understanding of the importance of family and kinship connections
• Willingness to work a roster that includes afternoon, overnight (sleepover), and weekend shifts
• Current Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) certificate
• Current driver’s licence
• Ability to clear probity checks, including National Criminal History, NSW Working with Children Check, and NSW Residential Care Workers Register check
