About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized support to youth through personalized life skills and wellness plans using trauma-informed and harm reduction approaches
- Support youth in areas such as personal hygiene, cooking, food security, and maintaining living spaces
- Facilitate life skills programming and workshops tailored to individual needs
- Assist with career development, including job interview preparation and employment readiness
- Liaise with social workers, RCMP, Ministry representatives, and schools to coordinate services and address youth-related issues
- Collaborate with Metlakatla’s Culture, Language, and Heritage department to provide cultural supports
- Support youth treatment initiatives through prevention, education, and intervention strategies
- Maintain accurate documentation of youth plans, progress, and program participation
- Respond to crisis situations and contact relevant management and resources as needed
- Adhere to youth medication schedules and administration
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in social work, child & youth care, or a related field
- 3-4 years of experience working with vulnerable or at-risk youth
- Valid Class 4 BC driver's license with a clean driving record
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Food Safe Certificate
- ASIST and NVCI training
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Ability to work flexible and irregular hours
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in and with an Indigenous community
