Youth Support Worker

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support to youth through personalized life skills and wellness plans using trauma-informed and harm reduction approaches
• Support youth in areas such as personal hygiene, cooking, food security, and maintaining living spaces
• Facilitate life skills programming and workshops tailored to individual needs
• Assist with career development, including job interview preparation and employment readiness
• Liaise with social workers, RCMP, Ministry representatives, and schools to coordinate services and address youth-related issues
• Collaborate with Metlakatla’s Culture, Language, and Heritage department to provide cultural supports
• Support youth treatment initiatives through prevention, education, and intervention strategies
• Maintain accurate documentation of youth plans, progress, and program participation
• Respond to crisis situations and contact relevant management and resources as needed
• Adhere to youth medication schedules and administration

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in social work, child & youth care, or a related field
• 3-4 years of experience working with vulnerable or at-risk youth
• Valid Class 4 BC driver's license with a clean driving record
• First Aid and CPR certification
• Food Safe Certificate
• ASIST and NVCI training
• Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
• Ability to work flexible and irregular hours

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in and with an Indigenous community
