Youth Development Generalist

Covenant House New York (CHNY) has been at the forefront of transforming lives by providing comprehensive shelter, housing, and wrap-around support services for vulnerable homeless, runaway, and exploited youth for over 50 years.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with the Youth Development Team to support all life skills programming
• Provide staff coverage for weekday and Saturday programming
• Assist in creating and managing monthly program calendars and event flyers
• Facilitate new resident orientation and promote available program opportunities
• Provide clerical and technical support, including preparing correspondence, meeting agendas, and tracking data via reports and spreadsheets
• De-escalate conflicts among clients through non-violent intervention
• Instruct and demonstrate Covenant House’s Mission and 5 Principles

Requirements

• Associate Degree or 2 years of youth development or related experience
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and Saturdays
• Strong mediation and de-escalation skills
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
• Ability to create and maintain professional boundaries
• Basic computer skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience providing program support for a childcare non-profit organization
• Project management and program administration skills
