Youth Development Counselor

Responsibilities

• Supervise youth in before/after-school and day camp programs to ensure safety and engagement
• Lead age-appropriate activities, games, and projects based on the YMCA curriculum
• Implement positive behavior-management techniques to foster social and emotional growth
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe program space in compliance with state licensing standards
• Model YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring
• Build strong, collaborative relationships with children, families, and school staff
• Follow all child-protection policies, including strict sign-in/out and supervision procedures

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 18 years of age
• Minimum of six months of experience working with youth in a licensed facility, school, or similar setting
• Ability to pass state/local background checks, fingerprinting, and TB/immunization requirements
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain)
• Ability to plan and lead engaging activities for diverse groups
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and remain active in indoor and outdoor environments
