Youth Advocate

Responsibilities

• Work directly with middle and high school scholars during high-quality enrichment activities such as arts, music, and theatre
• Collaborate with activity specialists to develop quality curricula and level-appropriate lesson plans
• Motivate students and maintain their interest while setting a positive example in attendance and conduct
• Monitor and evaluate enrichment activities to ensure programs reach target goals and implement necessary modifications
• Encourage positive character development in all youth
• Assist with program set-up, clean up, and the maintenance of materials and equipment
• Support organization-wide programs and events

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• At least 1 year of experience working in youth development
• Knowledge of the New York City school system
• Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively engage students
• A commitment to the mission and programs of Harlem Children's Zone
