About the role
Responsibilities
- Work directly with middle and high school scholars during high-quality enrichment activities such as arts, music, and theatre
- Collaborate with activity specialists to develop quality curricula and level-appropriate lesson plans
- Motivate students and maintain their interest while setting a positive example in attendance and conduct
- Monitor and evaluate enrichment activities to ensure programs reach target goals and implement necessary modifications
- Encourage positive character development in all youth
- Assist with program set-up, clean up, and the maintenance of materials and equipment
- Support organization-wide programs and events
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- At least 1 year of experience working in youth development
- Knowledge of the New York City school system
- Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively engage students
- A commitment to the mission and programs of Harlem Children's Zone
