Young Adult Librarian

Responsibilities

• Provide reference services and resource recommendations using print, media, and digital resources
• Collaborate with the Youth Educational Services Department to develop and facilitate innovative literacy and STEM programs
• Partner with the collection development team to shape and maintain a diverse and relevant Young Adult collection
• Conduct outreach and develop partnerships with community-based organizations, schools, and community groups
• Encourage digital literacy and provide age-appropriate technology instruction
• Develop and maintain content for social media platforms including blogs and various social networks
• Manage the layout and appearance of the Young Adult space to ensure a safe and inviting environment
• Mentor library staff in preparing and presenting Young Adult programs
• Assist with circulation, fines and fees management, reserves, and opening/closing procedures

Requirements

• Ability to empower young adults ages 12-18 to become creative thinkers and resourceful researchers
• Knowledge of trends in Young Adult literature and youth services
• Ability to engage with community-based organizations and schools
