About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide reference services and resource recommendations using print, media, and digital resources
- Collaborate with the Youth Educational Services Department to develop and facilitate innovative literacy and STEM programs
- Partner with the collection development team to shape and maintain a diverse and relevant Young Adult collection
- Conduct outreach and develop partnerships with community-based organizations, schools, and community groups
- Encourage digital literacy and provide age-appropriate technology instruction
- Develop and maintain content for social media platforms including blogs and various social networks
- Manage the layout and appearance of the Young Adult space to ensure a safe and inviting environment
- Mentor library staff in preparing and presenting Young Adult programs
- Assist with circulation, fines and fees management, reserves, and opening/closing procedures
Requirements
- Ability to empower young adults ages 12-18 to become creative thinkers and resourceful researchers
- Knowledge of trends in Young Adult literature and youth services
- Ability to engage with community-based organizations and schools
