Yard Hostler

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a Terminal Tractor to move trailers in and out of dock doors and parking stalls
• Perform pre-trip inspections and maintain equipment, including the Terminal Tractor
• Conduct trailer inventory checks and yard audits to ensure accurate tracking
• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following company and regulatory standards
• Inspect trailers to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order
• Maintain accurate records, logs, and forms, including pre-trip inspection sheets
• Use electronic equipment and WMS to ensure accurate inventory tracking
• Operate Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) such as forklifts or electric pallet jacks as needed
• Collaborate with team members to prevent yard bottlenecks and improve efficiency

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age
• Active driver's license and a clean driving record
• Ability to lift, move, and place up to 75 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb ladders
• Basic understanding of computer systems and Warehouse Management (WM) systems
• Ability to work in varying temperatures and weather conditions
• Minimum of one year of Yard Hostler experience (preferred)
• Prior exposure to CPG or Food & Beverage industries (preferred)
