Writing Tutor

Responsibilities

• Conduct one-on-one tutoring sessions to assist students with grammar, writing, and various written assignments
• Offer constructive feedback on written work across a variety of academic disciplines
• Lead workshops on APA formatting, the writing process, and research techniques
• Serve as an embedded tutor in select writing and research courses
• Coordinate with teaching faculty to stay updated on curriculum and support students of concern
• Conduct group study sessions and writing labs as needed
• Utilize Pharos retention software to submit and respond to student concerns
• Apply evidence-based practices to improve student learning outcomes

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Applied Linguistics, TESOL, Writing, or a related field
• Familiarity with APA format and academic writing conventions
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Patience and adaptability when explaining complex concepts to students

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in tutoring or teaching
• Experience working with diverse student populations
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
