Writers & Journalists Intern

Responsibilities

• Report and write stories for publication or broadcast adhering to professional standards
• Review and evaluate copy for proper grammar and punctuation
• Build contacts to maintain a continuum of relevant facts
• Interview individuals to gain insight and record information
• Investigate media releases and stories related to organizational interests
• Attend conferences and ask questions when needed
• Work with other departments to determine relevant material
• Organize material to complete assignments by deadline
• Upload copy to the organization's website

Requirements

• Passion for women's economic opportunities
• Must be a full or part-time student or a college graduate with 1+ years of journalism experience
• Eligible to receive school credit
• Ability to commit to 2-3 days a week for 3 months
• Excellent command of the English language
• Proven ability to work to stringent deadlines
• Solid understanding of interview skills
• Experience in editing and copywriting
• Sharp design skills
