About the role
About the Company
The Cambridge Boston Alignment Initiative (CBAI) is a nonprofit research organization working to advance research and education directed towards ensuring that society navigates a safe and beneficial transition to advanced AI systems. CBAI serves as the connective tissue between the AI safety research community across Harvard, MIT, and Northeastern.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end planning and execution of the Harvard-MIT AI Safety Workshops
- Scale the workshop program and curate guests from frontier AI safety research organizations
- Design workshop programming including session formats and speaker slots
- Identify and source opportunities for specialized research workshops in partnership with university research groups
- Manage venue, logistics, programming design, and speaker coordination for specialized workshops
- Run monthly Cambridge AI safety networking events and manage community outreach
- Build and maintain relationships with student group leaders, researchers, and faculty
Requirements
- Exceptional event production experience, ideally with multi-day or residential formats
- Strong community building and relationship management skills
- Fluency in AI safety research topics to engage with researchers and curate programming
- Operational excellence in managing vendors, budgets, and logistics
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset to build new workshop portfolios from scratch
- Mission-motivated with a genuine interest in AI safety
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing relationships in the AI safety or AI governance community
- Familiarity with the Cambridge and greater Boston venue and vendor landscape
- Experience working within university student organizations or academic departments
Benefits
- Salary: $80,000 – $100,000
