Workshop Electrician

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, fault-find, and repair a wide range of generators, from portable to containerised units, to ensure safe and reliable operation
• Conduct load testing and commissioning on generators (20–2000 kVA), recording results and verifying performance against specifications
• Strip down, rewire, and modify control panels and modules, including upgrading wiring and updating schematics
• Inspect, repair, and prepare HV transformers and high-voltage cable installations following safe isolation procedures
• Maintain and troubleshoot AC loadbanks and program/validate control modules using three-phase 415 V systems

Requirements

• Time-served electrical engineer with a clear electrical background and demonstrable hands-on experience
• SCQF Level 7 (SVQ Level 3) or equivalent apprentice qualification
• Strong practical understanding of DC and AC controls, as well as single- and three-phase electrics
• Proven experience in control panel strip-downs, rewires, and electrical modifications, including reading wiring diagrams
• Practical experience working on generators, plant, or heavy equipment
• Full, valid driving licence
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
