About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repair tasks on various tools, equipment, and machines utilized by the engineering department
- Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and address them proactively
- Diagnose equipment malfunctions, troubleshoot problems, and implement effective solutions
- Collaborate with team members to develop maintenance schedules and optimize equipment performance
- Follow safety protocols and adhere to established procedures to ensure a secure work environment
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and parts inventory
- Manage inventory of safety supplies in the workshop to ensure adequate stock levels
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Valid driver's license and ability to maintain an acceptable driving record
- Minimum of 4 years of documented experience as a diesel, automotive, or heavy equipment mechanic (or possession of a Journeyman's Mechanic's card)
- Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and prints
- Strong foundational math skills, including arithmetic and converting fractions/decimals
- Proficient computer skills and basic keyboarding proficiency
- Ability to use high and low precision measurement instruments (e.g., calipers, tape measures)
- Ability to pass a Physical Ability Test (PAT) and meet FMCSA medical requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or Class B
- Associate's degree or higher in electronics, mechanics, diesel technology, or a related field
- Completion of a formal training program focused on electronics, control systems, or AC/DC motors
- Experience working outdoors in diverse weather conditions and around moving heavy equipment
