About the role

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and maintain tools, roadway machines, vehicles, and equipment
  • Conduct maintenance and repairs while troubleshooting malfunctions
  • Organize and track information and coordinate the work of team members
  • Adhere to company and industry safety rules, practices, and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, operational guidelines, and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) requirements
  • Communicate and collaborate with others orally and in writing

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of verifiable experience as a diesel mechanic or gas automotive/heavy equipment mechanic OR possession of a Journeyman's Mechanic's card
  • Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record
  • Proficiency in basic arithmetic and computer literacy
  • Ability to read and comprehend schematic drawings of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Ownership of a personal set of mechanics' tools
  • Successful completion of an English language assessment
  • Ability to pass a Physical Ability Test (PAT) and meet FMCSA medical requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or Class B
  • Associate's degree or higher in electronics, mechanics, diesel technology, or related fields
  • Experience working outdoors in diverse weather conditions
  • Experience operating heavy moving equipment
  • Availability to work various shifts, overtime, holidays, and weekends
