About the role
Responsibilities
- Inspect and maintain tools, roadway machines, vehicles, and equipment
- Conduct maintenance and repairs while troubleshooting malfunctions
- Organize and track information and coordinate the work of team members
- Adhere to company and industry safety rules, practices, and procedures
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, operational guidelines, and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) requirements
- Communicate and collaborate with others orally and in writing
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of verifiable experience as a diesel mechanic or gas automotive/heavy equipment mechanic OR possession of a Journeyman's Mechanic's card
- Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record
- Proficiency in basic arithmetic and computer literacy
- Ability to read and comprehend schematic drawings of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Ownership of a personal set of mechanics' tools
- Successful completion of an English language assessment
- Ability to pass a Physical Ability Test (PAT) and meet FMCSA medical requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or Class B
- Associate's degree or higher in electronics, mechanics, diesel technology, or related fields
- Experience working outdoors in diverse weather conditions
- Experience operating heavy moving equipment
- Availability to work various shifts, overtime, holidays, and weekends
