Work Equipment Mechanic Field (IAM)

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair tools, roadway machines, vehicles, and heavy equipment
• Troubleshoot malfunctions in electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
• Organize and track work information and coordinate with team members
• Adhere to all company, industry, and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) safety regulations
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues using digital and print information

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of verifiable experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic OR possession of a Journeyman's Mechanic's card
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to read and comprehend schematic drawings (electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic)
• Proficiency in basic arithmetic and computer literacy
• Ability to pass a Physical Ability Test (PAT) and meet FMCSA medical requirements
• Ownership of a personal set of mechanics' tools

Preferred Qualifications

• Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B
• Associate's degree or higher in mechanics, diesel technology, or electrical components
• Experience working outdoors in diverse weather conditions
• Experience operating heavy moving equipment
• Willingness to work various shifts, including overtime, holidays, and weekends
