Wireless Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and implement digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms and wireless protocols in the PHY and MAC layers
• Deliver performant and robust production code targeted to software-defined radio (SDR) platforms using single-board computers and/or FPGAs
• Evaluate algorithm performance in simulation using MATLAB or Python
• Validate performance on target hardware using RF lab equipment and networking tools
• Develop test automation frameworks and manage CI/CD pipelines for modem testing
• Work with cross-functional teams to integrate, benchmark, and debug payload software and communications systems
• Debug production issues in orbit or on the ground
• Perform link budget analysis and evaluate spacecraft radios and ground station products

Requirements

• Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• Deep understanding of communication theory and signal processing (filter design, clock recovery, signal detection, channel estimation, equalization, channel coding)
• Strong knowledge of communications and networking standards like DVB-S2/DVB-S2X and protocols like TCP/IP, UDP, ZeroMQ, and Ethernet
• Experience with C/C++, Python, and MATLAB for algorithm development and simulation
• Strong knowledge of software defined radios (SDRs) and their implementation
• Proficiency in Linux-based systems
• Hands-on experience in lab testing, characterization, and using equipment like signal generators and spectrum analyzers

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience implementing DSP algorithms in HDL (SystemVerilog, VHDL)
• Knowledge of 3GPP standards, including LTE and 5G PHY, MAC, and RRC specifications
