Wind Turbine Technician

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain wind turbine equipment and associated infrastructure, including substation, collection, and transmission systems.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems using schematics and diagnostic tools.
• Perform mechanical and electrical component repairs or replacements following manufacturer requirements.
• Execute preventive maintenance in accordance with OEM manuals and comply with all environmental health and safety programs.
• Collect data and prepare reports to meet wind plant reporting requirements.
• Perform various retrofits, design modifications, and QA/QC functions.
• Participate in an on-call schedule, including overtime on holidays and weekends, and travel to other sites as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• One year of college/technical school certificate, or 12 months of related experience/wind industry training.
• Familiarity with maintenance and electronic testing equipment (e.g., voltage testers, amp clamps, oscilloscopes).
• Advanced computer skills for use with facility control, management, and reporting systems.
• Ability to climb towers up to 100 meters daily and work in adverse weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and frequently lift up to 60 pounds.
• Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to work around low, medium, and high voltage.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in power plant operations and maintenance.
• Experience in wind and solar plant construction, operation, and maintenance.
• Specific experience with wind turbine and solar power converters and inverters.
• Experience in high voltage switching.
• Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.
