Wildfire Fighter Crew Leader

Responsibilities

• Lead a 5-person fire crew, ensuring crew safety and upholding operational standards
• Train new recruits in basic fire suppression tactics and guide them through varying terrain
• Implement effective tactics to achieve tasks assigned by fire line supervisors
• Extinguish residual fire by breaking apart smoldering debris and extinguishing embers
• Operate trucks and ATVs to support firefighting operations
• Organize and maintain equipment before, during, and after shifts
• Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, rules, and company safety regulations

Requirements

• Valid certifications in S100, S185, S212, S230, S235, ICS 100, and Transportation of Dangerous Goods
• Experience as a Crew Leader on three fires OR twenty days as a firefighter (minimum 240 hours)
• Successful completion of an Annual Physical Fitness Test (Moderate Standard)
• Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
• Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE)

Preferred Qualifications

• OFA Level 1 with Transportation Endorsement
• Experience as a Chainsaw or Power Saw operator
• Wildland Fire Safety Danger Tree Assessor certification
