About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one clinical counselling and psychotherapy to students experiencing disordered eating and body image concerns
- Assess client mental health and determine appropriate interventions for life-threatening situations or risks of self-harm
- Develop mental health resources, stigma reduction programs, and awareness-raising activities for the post-secondary population
- Lead seminars, workshops, and therapeutic groups focused on eating disorders and healthy eating behaviors
- Engage in outreach and relationship building with community-based service providers to facilitate effective referrals
- Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)
Requirements
- Master's degree in Social Work
- Membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
- Minimum of five years of related experience in Community Mental Health or Outpatient Mental Health settings
- Extensive experience working with clients regarding eating disorders, body image concerns, and unhealthy eating behaviors
- Proven experience in client intake, assessment, crisis counselling, and psycho-educational workshops
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a diverse community
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working specifically with university-aged young adults and individuals in crisis
- Training in life coaching, mindfulness-based therapies, or other evidence-based alternative therapies
- Knowledge of university and community mental health resources
