About the role

Responsibilities

  • Review client applications and documentation to assess personal and financial eligibility for welfare assistance
  • Interview applicants to evaluate needs and assess emergency or crisis situations
  • Act as a liaison between clients and landlords, employers, medical professionals, and other human services agencies
  • Develop short- and long-term self-sufficiency plans, including job searches, housing assistance, and budgeting
  • Assist clients in completing public assistance applications and monitor progress through follow-up appointments
  • Maintain detailed case notes, organize financial data, and manage payment transactions
  • Locate and coordinate outside resources for essential items such as food, clothing, and medical supplies
  • Perform administrative tasks including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and stocking pantry supplies

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Liberal Arts, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in a role requiring significant public contact and high attention to detail
  • Proficiency with computers and standard office equipment
  • Ability to handle emotionally charged situations and establish rapport with diverse client populations
