About the role
Responsibilities
- Review client applications and documentation to assess personal and financial eligibility for welfare assistance
- Interview applicants to evaluate needs and assess emergency or crisis situations
- Act as a liaison between clients and landlords, employers, medical professionals, and other human services agencies
- Develop short- and long-term self-sufficiency plans, including job searches, housing assistance, and budgeting
- Assist clients in completing public assistance applications and monitor progress through follow-up appointments
- Maintain detailed case notes, organize financial data, and manage payment transactions
- Locate and coordinate outside resources for essential items such as food, clothing, and medical supplies
- Perform administrative tasks including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and stocking pantry supplies
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Liberal Arts, Business Administration, or a related field
- 2 to 4 years of experience in a role requiring significant public contact and high attention to detail
- Proficiency with computers and standard office equipment
- Ability to handle emotionally charged situations and establish rapport with diverse client populations
