Welding Engineer

Responsibilities

• Run weld parameter selection experiments to identify voltage, wire speed, and travel speed for new customer applications
• Partner with robotics engineers to develop rules for workpiece and robot end-effector movement to automate trajectory generation
• Perform robotic welding experiments to test sensors, inspection systems, path planning, and new hardware
• Work with the hardware team to fabricate test coupons for application feasibility testing
• Operate an AI-powered robotic welding cell
• Manually weld coupons and other test parts as needed
• Use powered shop tools to cut and etch weld samples
• Travel 30%-50% to interface and work directly with customers

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience developing robotic welding procedures in an industrial environment
• Proficiency in industrial robotics platforms such as Yaskawa, ABB, Kuka, or Fanuc
• Background in fusion-based weld parameter development for carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
• Proficiency with manual welding processes including GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, and SMAW
• Understanding of weld symbology and print interpretation
• Experience with Design of Experiment (DoE) principles
