Welder II

Responsibilities

• Perform metal arc welding on ladder components, torque boxes, and miscellaneous parts for custom fire apparatus
• Execute proper fixturing, setup, and operation of welding equipment
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop orders, and weld symbols fluently
• Use hand tools, sanders, grinders, plasma cutters, torches, and cranes to complete fabrication tasks
• Ensure all welds meet company quality standards and NDT testing acceptability
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhering to all PPE and safety regulations
• Perform sanding and grinding to ensure high-quality cosmetic appearance

Requirements

• Prior professional welding experience
• Ability to pass a Flat & Vertical Weld Test for both aluminum and steel
• Fluency in reading blueprints and weld specifications
• Ability to read a tape measure accurately
• Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in awkward positions (bending, climbing, crawling)
• Ability to work in a noisy manufacturing environment and work overtime as needed
