Welder I

Responsibilities

• Perform precision welds on components for the manufacture of large, custom, special purpose emergency response vehicles
• Work from shop orders, specifications, prints, and instructions to ensure dimensional accuracy
• Set parts in assembly fixtures, position, layout, and clamp in place according to specified orientations
• Select welding parameters per specified weld procedures and follow instructions to minimize unit distortion
• Fit, tack, and weld joints to ensure compliance with weld size, continuity, fill, and cosmetic requirements
• Conduct visual and dimensional checks of work and document results as required
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with 5-S Philosophy and safety protocols

Requirements

• Basic welding knowledge, including experience or training in GMAW processes
• Knowledge of Lean Methodologies
• Ability to read and understand basic assembly prints and weld symbols
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 40 pounds frequently
• Ability to stand for sustained periods and perform physical tasks such as climbing, stooping, and kneeling
