Welder I

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and perform shop math to layout, fabricate, and weld various parts and assemblies
• Perform MIG and STICK (SMAW) welding on multiple types of metals in vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions
• Focus heavily on MIG welding aluminum for ambulance fabrication
• Use grinders, sanders, rivet guns, saws, and other air tools to complete assemblies
• Inspect welds for defects such as cracks, burn through, weld spatter, lack of fusion, and craters
• Maintain a safe work environment and perform routine maintenance on welding equipment

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Two years of welding experience using MIG or TIG welding machines
• Ability to pass and maintain in-house AWS Welder Certification
• General knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work in environments with heat up to 105 degrees
• Ability to perform physical tasks including bending, stooping, squatting, and working from ladders or scaffolding
