Welder I

Responsibilities

• Perform structural welding operations according to blueprints, company standards, and AWS standards
• Inspect welds for cracks, burn through, and weld spatter to meet third-party inspection criteria
• Use various hand, electric, cordless, and pneumatic tools for grinding and cleaning areas as required
• Set up, adjust, and maintain welding machines and perform basic mechanical adjustments
• Follow hazardous waste disposal programs and fire prevention procedures
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)

Requirements

• 1-3 years of welding experience (Level I)
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and welding symbols
• Ability to use a tape measure for precise measurements
• Must be able to pass required AWS certification tests in material sections D1.1, D1.2, D1.3, D1.6, and D9.1
• Ability to perform an uphill weld
• Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work in non-temperature-controlled environments
• Successful completion of drug and background screening

Preferred Qualifications

• Existing welding certifications
• Experience with AWS 1G through 6G levels
