Welder and Fabrication Technician

Responsibilities

• Support the establishment of the K2 Space Development shop, including equipment selection and setup
• Perform Class A weld quality using TIG, MIG, and other specialized processes
• Process sheet metal utilizing water jet cutting and various machine tools
• Operate fabrication equipment including CNC press brake, shear roller, mill, lathe, and bandsaws
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform preventative maintenance
• Inspect finished products to ensure high quality standards
• Communicate with engineering teams for alignment and support prioritization
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in compliance with EH&S standards
• Provide process improvement ideas and design feedback to improve manufacturability

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with Class A TIG/MIG welding and thin sheet metal
• 5+ years of experience with sheet metal fabrication and forming
• Strong proficiency in GD&T tolerances and technical drawing interpretation
• Ability to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed
• Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks including standing, lifting, and grasping
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a space hardware development program
• Experience in a high-pace development environment with short production schedules
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills
