About the role
Responsibilities
- Operate specialized vegetation control equipment including large spray tanks, backpack sprayers, mowers, and brush cutters.
- Use hand tools such as shovels, machetes, loppers, and chainsaws for invasive species removal.
- Collect and analyze data on noxious weed infestations using GPS and GIS mapping technology.
- Maintain accurate herbicide application reports, supply usage records, and safety documentation.
- Perform regular maintenance and safety inspections on all assigned equipment.
- Coordinate spray activities with internal departments and external agencies.
- Assist in the guidance and training of volunteers and seasonal staff.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Washington State Pesticide License with Weed Control category.
- Valid motor vehicle operator's license.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to perform tasks in unfavorable weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of experience operating spray equipment.
- Moderate to advanced personal computer skills.
- Knowledge of native and noxious weed identification and control measures.
