Web Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own basepowercompany.com end-to-end including architecture, design, copy, and performance
• Build and ship pages using Next.js, React, and Tailwind
• Maintain visual consistency and brand quality across all breakpoints
• Write and shape website copy in Base’s voice
• Design and run A/B and multivariate experiments to improve conversion and engagement
• Own technical SEO and site performance, including Core Web Vitals and structured data
• Build and maintain a component library for faster development
• Build AI-powered web features and design workflows involving prompts and agents
• Collaborate with Growth, Design, Product, and Engineering teams

Requirements

• 5–8 years of experience at the intersection of web design and front-end development
• Production-quality skills in Next.js, React, and Tailwind
• Sharp design eye for typography, spacing, hierarchy, and motion
• Proficiency in Figma and comfort moving between design and code
• Experience with PostHog for feature flags, session replay, and experiments
• Ability to write and edit compelling website copy
• Hands-on experience building with AI and designing AI workflows
• Strong understanding of SEO and performance fundamentals
• Ability to work self-directed in a fast-paced startup environment
