Weather Routing Analyst

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe and efficient voyage routing services by analyzing weather forecasts, ocean currents, and routing constraints.
• Create, configure, and validate voyage profiles in proprietary routing systems.
• Provide real-time route guidance and updates to vessels to balance safety, fuel efficiency, and schedule commitments.
• Act as the primary point of contact for shipmasters and client representatives, providing regular performance updates and risk advisories.
• Collect and validate vessel performance data, including noon reports and sensor data, to monitor fuel consumption and speed.
• Prepare voyage summaries, post-voyage analyses, and client-specific reports.
• Ensure all routing advice adheres to safety standards, regulatory constraints, and company procedures.

Requirements

• Minimum STCW II/1 Officer of the Watch (Deck) Certificate of Competency (Second Officer or equivalent).
• 1-3 years of sailing experience on ocean-going vessels with a minimum rank of a third navigational watch officer.
• Strong understanding of marine weather forecasting and voyage planning principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Proficiency with routing or marine operational software.
• Ability to multitask and work effectively under time-sensitive conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology, Oceanography, Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, or a related field.
• Experience in weather routing, marine operations, or vessel performance analysis.
• Familiarity with charter party terms and vessel performance metrics.
• Exposure to decarbonization initiatives or emissions-related voyage considerations.
