About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the B83-0/1 Technical Basis Realization Team (TBRT) in executing design, development, qualification, and sustainment activities.
- Partner with the Weapon System Lead to guide a multi-disciplinary team in carrying out the stewardship mission.
- Implement the Risk-Informed Stockpile Evaluation framework by identifying and reporting on activities that improve system understanding.
- Manage a diverse technical basis portfolio to support annual assessments.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers and domain specialists to investigate anomalies and resolve system-related issues.
- Interface with component teams, surveillance organizations, and external agencies such as the NNSA, LLNL, and KCNSC.
- Prepare and deliver programmatic and technical presentations and assist in writing annual assessment reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
- Five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Active DOE Q-level security clearance or equivalent.
- Ability to obtain Sigma 15 authorization, which may include participation in random polygraph examinations.
- Ability to work onsite in Livermore, CA, with up to 25% travel to locations including Albuquerque, NM; Amarillo, TX; Kansas City, MO; and Washington, D.C.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree in Engineering or a highly related field.
- Experience working with Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) laboratories and plants.
- Experience in engineering design, qualification, production, or modeling/simulation projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of nuclear weapon systems and nuclear surety principles.
