Water/Wastewater Operator

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain water and wastewater treatment plant equipment to ensure proper purification and sewage processing
• Control electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate the flow of raw water and sewage
• Administer appropriate chemical amounts (such as chlorine, ammonia, and lime) to disinfect and clarify water
• Monitor control panels and adjust settings to regulate flow rates, pressure, and water elevation
• Perform maintenance, repairs, and lubrication of machines and equipment using hand and power tools
• Conduct laboratory tests on water and sewage samples to determine acidity, color, and impurities
• Maintain accurate logs of operations, meter readings, and chemical residual content

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Current Wastewater Operator license
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Class II Water Operator license within 4 months of hire
• Minimum of 12 months of experience in a maintenance mechanic field
• Valid state driver’s license
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance (US Citizenship required)
• Ability to perform physical tasks including frequent walking, standing, climbing up to 24 feet, and lifting up to 50 lbs
