Water Supply Operator I

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor water supply and treatment equipment including pumping, chemical feed, and storage systems
• Assist with maintenance of plant equipment and facilities
• Perform water level measurements on groundwater wells
• Load and unload chemicals and perform basic laboratory analytical techniques on water samples
• Conduct calculations related to dosing, flow rates, and pressure
• Comply with all safety standards regarding equipment and chemical handling
• Remain available for 24/7 emergency response

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid California driver license
• SWRCB Water Distribution Operator 1 certification (or ability to obtain)
• One year as a Water Distribution Operator or two years in the water utility industry, or an Associate degree in Water Technology
• Proficiency with Windows and basic computer applications
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and handle physical demands including lifting, climbing, and standing
• Must reside within 25 miles of the assigned water system boundary

Preferred Qualifications

• SWRCB Water Treatment Plant Operator 1 certification
• Basic plumbing skills
• Strong math and organizational skills
