Watchperson

Responsibilities

• Patrol campus buildings and grounds per prescribed route and check points
• Maintain radio and/or telephone contact with Department of Public Safety dispatch
• Monitor sprinkler systems and fire extinguishers for correct operating pressure and function
• Report damage to buildings, maintenance work required, and safety violations to supervisor
• Complete written reports summarizing nightly rounds
• Lock and unlock buildings
• Perform associated Facilities Services maintenance work including snow removal, event set-up, and trash cleaning
• Notify Department of Public Safety of emergency or hazardous situations

Requirements

• Previous experience in security or watchman position helpful
• Knowledge of campus alarm systems and mechanical systems (circuit breaker panels, compressors, sprinkler systems, etc.)
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record
• Ability to work flexible shifts, overtime, and holidays
• Physical ability to handle long periods of walking, climbing stairs, standing, crouching, and bending
• Ability to lift 10-25 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
• Ability to pass a background check
