Wastewater System Superintendent

Responsibilities

• Direct the daily operations of the treatment plant, pumping stations, and sewer lines
• Review treatment processes and make adjustments to maximize efficiency
• Ensure plant effluent meets Federal (EPA) and State Departments of Environmental Quality standards
• Prepare and submit discharge monitoring reports
• Supervise, train, and evaluate plant operators and maintenance technicians
• Coordinate work schedules and handle hiring or disciplinary actions
• Work with stakeholders and contractors to manage plant upgrades or infrastructure construction

Requirements

• High School diploma; Bachelors degree preferred
• At least 5 years experience as a W5 licensed superintendent in Maryland
• At least 3 years of experience in management and oversight of wastewater treatment plants with advanced treatment systems
• Thorough knowledge of MDE Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs)
• Maryland (MD) Wastewater Treatment (W5) Activated Sludge license
• Ability to pass a government background check
• Fluency in English
