Ward Secretary

Responsibilities

• Provide general clerical and reception duties to assist in maintaining the nursing station
• Answer call lights and forward requests to appropriate team members
• Manage telephone calls using appropriate scripting and physician calling preferences
• Contact physicians in a timely manner regarding consults per policy
• Assemble, disassemble, and maintain patient medical records per unit standards
• Collaborate with management to order and maintain appropriate supplies and floor stock
• Maintain competency in using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
• Ensure compliance with facility safety, regulatory outcomes, and patient confidentiality

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• One year of medical-related experience (e.g., Medical Office Assistant, Lab Tech, Pharmacy Tech) OR one year of medical-related college education within the past 5 years
• Completion of a medical terminology course
• Familiarity with computer keyboard operations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
