VP-Ratings (Utilities)

Responsibilities

• Lead rigorous credit analysis for a portfolio of North American investor-owned electric and gas utilities and select power issuers
• Deliver timely rating recommendations and surveillance by assessing regulatory frameworks, rate-setting, liquidity, and ESG considerations
• Present well-supported credit views to rating committees and communicate complex analytical issues clearly in writing
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with company management teams, investors, and media
• Publish forward-looking research on issuers, sector developments, and cross-sector credit themes
• Mentor junior analysts and collaborate across the organization to develop strong credit judgment

Requirements

• 8–10+ years of relevant credit analysis experience
• Strong technical skills in accounting, financial statement analysis, cash flow analysis, and capital structure
• Deep understanding of utility regulation, regulated business models, and sector-specific credit drivers
• Proficiency in using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree or CFA designation
• Experience specifically within the investor-owned utility or power sector
