VP of Engineering

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end product delivery and accountability for shipping the roadmap on time and at quality
• Manage and coach engineering managers to develop stronger leaders and build a talent bench
• Lead engineering hiring, personally closing senior hires and growing the team by 10-15 engineers in the first year
• Partner deeply with Product and Design heads on roadmap, prioritization, and scope trade-offs
• Serve as the engineering voice on the leadership team, making explicit trade-offs and communicating across the org
• Collaborate with the CTO on architecture, AI, and technical platform direction to accelerate execution

Requirements

• Experience leading engineering organizations of at least 25 people, ideally through a high-growth phase
• 3+ years of experience as a manager of managers
• Strong technical foundation with the ability to review system designs and earn trust from Staff engineers
• Proven track record of personally recruiting and closing senior engineering talent
• Ability to work in an in-office capacity in Lisbon
• High-velocity mindset that prioritizes judgment over heavy process

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in marketplace, consumer, or physical-world operations
• Background in engineering cultures known for high-speed shipping (e.g., Stripe, Vercel, GitHub, DoorDash)
