About the Company

GITAI is a space robotics company working to reduce the cost of work in space by 100x. The company develops robotic systems for orbital, lunar, and defense applications, including tasks such as assembly, inspection, maintenance, and construction.

Responsibilities

• Help build and operate the legal function to enable rapid growth
• Review, interpret, and advise on RFPs, purchase orders, and customer/supplier terms
• Draft, redline, and negotiate agreements with customers, suppliers, and partners
• Translate legal issues into clear business choices and risk assessments
• Work with program management, engineering, and finance to align contracts with execution
• Structure positions on IP rights, data rights, liability, indemnity, and export control
• Build contract templates, negotiation playbooks, and internal approval paths
• Manage outside counsel efficiently

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school and an active U.S. law license
• 5+ years of legal experience (law firm or in-house)
• At least 1 year of in-house legal experience at a venture-backed startup
• Strong contract judgment and ability to advise on business-critical documents
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• High ownership and willingness to draft and negotiate work directly
• U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in technology, robotics, aerospace, defense, or advanced manufacturing
• Experience with U.S. government agency RFPs or defense-related contracts
• Deep knowledge of ITAR, EAR, CFIUS, and export control rules
• Experience with FAR/DFARS, cybersecurity requirements, or intellectual property
• Experience operating a compliance function in a technical environment
