VP, Engineering Lead - Investment Operations

Responsibilities

• Set the technical vision and roadmap for Ares Investment Operations across the entire investment lifecycle
• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of software engineers
• Oversee end-to-end development of engineering solutions for investment accounting, fund administration, and treasury management
• Partner with senior engineering and business leaders to define product strategy and roadmaps
• Participate hands-on in solution ideation, architecture, design, and delivery
• Manage relationships with vendors and data providers, including selection and contract negotiations
• Implement industry best practices for engineering and product management

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering
• 10+ years of hands-on software development experience
• 4+ years of experience managing engineering teams (5-10 members)
• 5+ years of Private Markets experience in Asset Management (Direct Lending, Private Equity, or Real Assets)
• Proficiency in Java, Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, and SQL
• Experience building full-stack modern scalable applications (e.g., Spring Boot, React, Node)
• Experience with both SQL and NoSQL technologies (e.g., Postgres, MongoDB, Redis)
• Experience with CI/CD, Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of cloud computing concepts
• Experience with streaming and messaging platforms like Kafka
• Experience using GenAI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Co-Pilot, Claude Code)
• Strong knowledge of modern UI/UX best practices
