VP, Dental Professional Liability Claims

Responsibilities

• Lead the dental claims program by overseeing TPAs and claims professionals to manage dental professional liability claims and regulatory complaints.
• Handle a wide range of claims, including state regulatory complaints, licensing board complaints, and bad faith litigation.
• Guide strategic settlement and disposition decisions for complex matters.
• Oversee TPA partners in claim investigations, analysis, and evaluations to ensure best practices.
• Recruit, hire, and retain top talent while providing technical advice and strategic direction to direct reports.
• Identify trends and exposures impacting the dental malpractice portfolio and address process gaps.
• Assist underwriting with legal reviews and policy drafting.
• Ensure accurate reporting to management and reinsurers.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in handling dental professional liability claims.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience managing TPAs.
• Law degree (JD) is required.
• Valid Adjuster's license is required.
• Proven experience in legal review and policy drafting.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and claims systems such as Guidewire.
• Strong negotiating, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working at both a law firm and an insurance carrier.
• Insurance-related designations such as RPLU or CPCU.
• Experience with General Liability, Employment Practices Liability, or ERISA Fiduciary Liability.
• Familiarity with Genius or ImageRight claims systems.
