About the Company
The Aparecio Foundation is a nonprofit organization designed as an economic development strategy to lift women out of poverty and build the leadership capacity of low-income women. The foundation provides academic support and scholarship programs for high-potential, low-income women through an eight-year multiple-mentor program.
Responsibilities
- Provide organizational leadership and advisement
- Formulate and oversee policies, procedures, and annual budgets
- Oversee program planning, evaluation, and personnel development
- Lead fundraising, outreach, and promotion of the organization
- Ensure legal and ethical integrity and organizational accountability
- Recruit and orient new board members
- Strengthen the organization's programs and services
Requirements
- Ability to make a two-year commitment to Board service
- Availability to attend regularly scheduled board meetings and special events
- Willingness to participate in standing or ad-hoc committees
- Ability to communicate and promote the mission to the community
- Broad network of peers, contacts, and resources
- Ability to actively recruit four or more potential stakeholders per quarter
- Capacity to financially support the foundation commensurate with ability
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with board governance and compliance requirements
- Experience at the board level or in senior company management
- Strong communication and team-oriented mindset
- Informed and reasoned approach to complex business problems
