Volunteer and Internship Manager

Responsibilities

• Oversee a volunteer corps of over 300 active volunteers and 1,000 episodic volunteers annually
• Manage and expand an innovative paid internship program in animal care and education
• Develop and implement strategies to recruit, train, and retain volunteers
• Cultivate relationships with volunteers and community organizations
• Supervise 2 full-time staff members
• Prepare and administer the annual program budget
• Coordinate training, enrichment, and recognition programs
• Partner with the Events team to ensure volunteer coverage for multi-day events

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in volunteer management, program management, or community engagement
• Demonstrated commitment to volunteer engagement
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and volunteer management software (Better Impact preferred)
• Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, or special events
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs

• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
• Proven success in leveraging community relationships
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
