Visual Development Artist

Responsibilities

• Generate artwork for sets, locations, props, characters, visual effects, color schemes, and overall style under the guidance of the Production Designer and Art Director
• Produce work across all production stages, from sketches and rough explorations to refined designs and final paintings
• Collaborate with creative leadership to translate the film’s vision from concept to finished look
• Present innovative ideas to improve visual concepts and designs when requested
• Maintain organized backup and storage of all artwork
• Iterate on designs based on feedback and communicate production concerns proactively
• Meet schedules and deadlines while upholding high artistic quality and consistency

Requirements

• Proficiency in drawing, design, perspective, composition, painting, lighting, and color theory
• Ability to work in varied styles from cartoony to highly realistic
• Expertise in one or more areas: set/location/props design, character/costume design, special effects design, or color styling
• Understanding of 2D to 3D translations and hands-on experience with 2D or 3D tools
• Creative problem-solving skills and efficient time management
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment under pressure
• Self-motivated with strong communication and teamwork skills
• Working knowledge of Photoshop and Cintiq
