Visiting Instructor of Practice in Scenic Design

Responsibilities

• Teach approximately three courses per academic year, including scenic design, stagecraft, props design, and scenic painting
• Serve as the resident scenic designer for University Theatre
• Assist the production manager and technical director in the scene shop during afternoon lab hours
• Maintain scenic painting and props areas and lead student crews
• Mentor student designers and technicians
• Participate in department meetings, recruitment, and retention efforts

Requirements

• MFA in scenic design
• Strong computer-aided drafting skills in AutoCAD or Vectorworks

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous university-level teaching experience
• Professional design experience
